Volunteering

Looking for a few good men and women to volunteer!

Our center provides a variety of mental health services and social programs for individuals of all ages, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds. We are especially committed to serving the chronically mentally ill and those who cannot afford treatment from traditional sources. We hope that you will help us continue this work and become a volunteer.

Volunteers make a difference in their communities ...

Volunteers gain work experience.
Volunteers stay active and involved.
Volunteers build self confidence.
Volunteers learn new skills.
Volunteers earn academic credit.
Volunteers make friends.
Volunteers have fun!

The San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center, Inc. is always looking for people with special skills or talents that would like to lend a hand. Do you have special computer skills? Do you have an idea for teaching arts and crafts? Are you qualified to lead a workshop on financial planning, resume writing, health education? If you have other ideas or suggestions, please contact us. We’d love to work with you! Volunteers are encouraged to participate in as many of the different programs as they are interested in, provided it is an appropriate placement.

There is another major way that you can volunteer for us and that is by holding a fundraiser with the Center being the beneficiary. Some ideas for this are:

  • Collecting your spare change
  • Have a Denim Day where people pay $5 to wear jeans to work
  • Car wash
