Duties: 
Under the direction of the Program Manager, is responsible for assessing the vocational needs of authorized Department of Rehabilitation adult referrals, and for developing and implementing vocational plans in conjunction with the Department of Rehabilitation Counselor. The Employment Specialist is responsible for collaborating with clients to determine what vocational services best suit their need once the initial assessment is completed. Under supervision, assist with job development in the competitive labor markets for clients as needed and acts as liaison between clients and employers as needed. Due to the nature of the severity of the disability, the Employment Specialist will provide intensive mentoring, providing support on off-site jobs as needed. Develops potential work sites to use as job training sites and provides on the job training/job mentoring. Teaches work skills and conducts ongoing work assessment to determine readiness of clients to be referred for Employment Services. Conducts skills training seminars and workshops in the classroom and in the community. Also responsible for providing job - related case management activities by addressing clients’ employment barriers, and provide tools and resources to address or eradicate those barriers.
Number of clients served and specific assignments are determined by clients served and program need.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following job duties are performed for DOR clients.)
 
Vocational Assessment
 
Conduct vocational assessment with clients referred to program.
 
Administer vocational interest inventories and testing to DOR clients.
 
Develop and implement a vocational plan in conjunction with client and State Department of Rehabilitation Counselor.
 
Evaluate client work performance and readiness to engage in competitive employment, work adjustment or vocational training.
 
Work Adjustment and Employment Services
 
Conduct employment preparation seminars.
 
Conduct vocational support groups.
 
Maintain a consistent placement outcome
 
Accompany clients to placement interviews and work sites, as needed.
 
Provide on and off-site post-placement follow-up as needed.
 
Develop and maintain relationship with employers in the community
 
Maintain contact with employers and provide mediation when necessary.
 
Monitor the progress of each client and complete monthly evaluations.
 
Attend case review/staff meetings at all the Center’s programs as needed.
 
Maintain program and client records, and provide reports and other documentation as necessary to fulfill requirements of the position.
 
Other duties as assigned by Program Manager to meet contract obligations with Department of Rehabilitation.
Qualifications: 
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Must act in accordance with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 and related state law confidentiality requirements. Must successfully complete the Center’s HIPAA training, pass the HIPAA test, and receive the Certification of Compliance.
 
Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Arriving at work on time and not leaving early is an essential function of the job.
 
Ability to function as part of multi-disciplinary treatment team, communicate and coordinate effectively with employers and outside agencies; good organizational and assessment skills.
B.A. degree in any Behavioral Sciences /Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling or two plus experience in related field.
 
Minimum one (1) year experience providing vocational rehabilitation or related services to the mentally ill youth and or adults. Minimum of two (2) year’s experience required.
 
Counseling and Sales Experience highly desirable
 
Must have a valid California Driver License in good standing and personal, with valid auto insurance. Insurance by the Center’s auto insurance carrier is a requirement. REQ. 8611A  Apply Here
