Turning Point Wraparound Program is an integrated, multi-agency, community-based process grounded in a philosophy of unconditional commitment to support families to safely and competently care for their children.
The program is designed for children ages 4 – 18 (or up to age 21 if in foster care) who have been or are at risk of high-level residential placement. Wraparound is a voluntary, strengths-based, family-centered process that uses strategic planning to achieve the goals determined through a family plan of care.
Wraparound relies on the family’s voice and choice to develop plans that will be accessible and culturally relevant to each family’s individual needs. The single most important outcome of wraparound is a child thriving in a permanent home and supported by normal community services and informal supports.
The Wraparound team works in collaboration not only with the child and family, but also with the referring agency – the Department of Mental Health, Department of Children & Family Services, Department of Probation – to address the needs of the family, the County, and the surrounding community. Referrals are screened for eligibility by a Los Angeles County Interagency Screening Committee and are assigned by them to providers.
